About the Community

"In Guatemala, the proposal to officially recognize the celebration gained momentum within the Child Protection Society, a charitable institution founded in 1920 that was already working extensively on children's health and nutrition in the country. It was the government of the republic that formally decreed October 1st as the chosen date. This month was selected because it marked the beginning of the final stretch of the school year, considered an ideal time to reflect on children's rights, the importance of their education, and their comprehensive protection. A key fact: Although today it is a day filled with piñatas, sweets, and celebrations at schools, its true origin in Guatemala was as a reminder that the State and society must guarantee the fundamental rights of the youngest members of society: health, education, and a safe environment. The importance of this message also motivates us to support several schools by providing them with cake, children's favorite foods that are not readily available to them, sweets, and toys. This project was made possible thanks to the funds raised by Pillar Fisk at her bachelorette party. A noble deed with a wonderful result."
