Support for the "Abelardo Villafuerte Villeda Academic Excellence"

"Abelardo's Legacy: Sowing Excellence in Chiquimula In 2023, Abelardo's passing left a profound void in his community and in the hearts of his friends at the Rotary Club. However, the grief soon transformed into a driving force for change. To honor his memory and his spirit of service, an inspiring initiative was born: to recognize and reward the efforts of the students with the best academic performance at the Experimental Institute. What began as a one-off tribute in 2023, awarding the top students in each of the institute's six sections with a diploma and a cash prize, demonstrated the enormous impact that recognition has on motivating young people. In 2024, the commitment continued thanks to the immediate generosity of Verónica Guzmán's family (his wife) and the Rotary Club, who personally contributed the funds at the last minute. Likewise, in 2025, the event was successfully held, solidifying this initiative as a tradition that firmly promotes academic excellence in the region. The Next Step: Joining Forces for the New Graduating Class Having instilled motivation in young people over the past few years, the goal now is to ensure the continuity of this valuable incentive. The project includes a fund of $2,000.00 USD to cover the cash prizes and diplomas for the most outstanding students in the six sections. With an eye toward the November graduation ceremonies, efforts are underway to coordinate support with Vivid Roots, a Rotary Club partner and witness to Abelardo Villafuerte's community service."
